AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH AND STAFF FEATURE
April is Autism Awareness Month, and the MSK Centre would like to take a moment to celebrate the contributions of one of our team members, Jordache. Jordache, who is a part time administrative assistant with our MSK Work Assist team, is a valued member of our team and brings creativity, dedication, and a fresh perspective to everything she does. Her contributions remind us that inclusivity and diversity strengthens and enriches our workplace.
Jordache can excel in data entry and providing support to her fellow administrators. Jordache says that being a part of the MSK Work Assist team has been a perfect match for her skills and has provided her with an environment where she can thrive. Outside of the office, her passions lie in the realms of art and music. She enhanced her artistic talents at Conestoga College, where she completed the Arts Design Foundations Diploma program. Additionally, she delved into the world of music, particularly mastering the piano, and earned a diploma in basic theory and fundamentals Levels 1 and 2 from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Family time is incredibly important to Jordache, as is the companionship of her Scottish Fold cat, Theodora.
At the MSK Centre, creating an inclusive workplace environment is at the core of our values. We believe that inclusivity and diversity is an essential part of any workplace, and everyone deserves to feel valued and respected. From offering flexible work arrangements to promoting open communication and providing training and guidance, we’re committed to fostering an environment where every voice is heard and every individual can thrive. At the MSK Centre, our goal is to build a workplace environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and included.
On behalf of everyone at the MSK Centre, we would like to wish Jordache and everyone a Happy Autism Awareness Month!

PT STUDENT FEATURE
The MSK Centre is committed to providing a diverse range of learning opportunities and offers a hands-on learning experience for students.
Earlier this year, we had the privilege of having David join our rehabilitation team. As a PT student from Western University, David received a practical, hand-on learning experience working directly with patients under the guidance of our physiotherapists during his placement.
Here is a statement from David about his experience working at the MSK Centre as a PT student, “My time at the MSK Centre was more than I could ask for. I’ve previously shadowed/worked at many physiotherapy clinics, but the MSK Centre is unique where the large space allowed me to develop my exercise prescription and observational skills. My clinical instructor, Kyle Ferrigan, was fundamental in my learning and growth as a student. He critiqued and allowed me to work on various skills like history taking, exercise prescription, clinical reasoning, manual techniques, and building patient rapport. I saw how much of an impact his mentoring made on based on the patient’s response to treatment from my first to last day there. Furthermore, I was fortunate to learn and take away different techniques from how the other physiotherapists and health care practitioners practiced. Overall, my time at the MSK Centre has been very welcoming because of how kind the staff and practitioners were. I’m excited to take everything I’ve learned and implement it into my practice as a future physiotherapist!”
