CMM'ed the parts! We used a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to accurately measure the diameter of the 5 parts, and here are the results. The average error (Ra) is only 0.4 micron!

Custom made carbide parts for our tool setter came!
These are used as thr tool datum disk - the part that the end mill touches. They are made from carbide so that they don't scratch.

Movable tool chest for the workshop! Pro tip: you can use kitchen drawer liner to keep the tools from rolling around. Now all of the clutter is hidden away in drawer!
Testing the vortex tube! We used an infrared thermometer to see the temperature difference. With 20 psi of air, the hot side was 30 C and the cold side was 6 C. Pretty effective!

Our strain gauges under a microscope ! There are 2 gauges (between the wires). The element contains a gauge that is sensitive to vertical strain (left side), and horizontal strain (right side). With 4 gauges (2 pictured), we make a full bridge strain sensor.
