At this time of year, I’m especially mindful of the effect that stress has on us. When holiday obligations start to influence our decision making, we tend to allow the expectations of others to discourage us from our normal self-care routines.⁣

Women have been particularly conditioned to please others, so we unconsciously feel that it’s selfish or rude to say no to outward expectations, even when they encroach on our own sense of peace. We may find ourselves harbouring feelings of anger or bitterness. Worse yet, over time we might find ourselves becoming physically ill!⁣

It’s worth remembering that we can’t pour from an empty cup. Our healthy habits and choices are extra important during the Holiday season, because our daily self-care commitments are crucial to keeping us grounded and emotionally balanced.⁣

This is the time for us to rethink "being selfish", and make mindful decisions that nourish our bodies, minds, and souls. As Shanti Zimmerman says, “The most self-absorbed human being is one who loathes themselves. The most aware is one who deeply cares for themselves."⁣

May we each be the reminder that we need that we are enough, we are deserving of peace, and we are loved this holiday season.💕⁣
