the Connection to Gambling Risk
We explore youth participation in fantasy sports using current research and
Canadian market data. It covers how fantasy sports operate in Canada, including
free versus paid models, the balance of skill and chance, monetization strategies,
and common misconceptions among young players. The session also examines
emerging evidence on links to mental well-being, problem gambling risk, and
potential transitions to sports betting, and offers warning signs, harm-reduction
strategies, resources, and discussion points to support healthy decision-making.
