Bubi’s is a long time Windsor dining spot that has held its place downtown since 1984. Known for their creamy Bubi’s sauce, garlic-heavy dishes, and having been featured on The Food Network, I knew I’d end up with a Bubi’s burger sooner rather than later. The menu has a good amount of options, including eleven good looking burgers. With so many choices, I was having trouble landing on a decision until the waiter recommended ‘The Binder.’

‘The Binder’ is not your conventional burger, instead it has two grilled cheese sandwiches in the place of typical burger buns.
I struggled to fit my mouth over this monster of a burger, but when I did I was pretty pleased with the taste. The grilled cheese sandwiches were well made with both cheddar and mozzarella cheese. The burger patty, while not as juicy as I would have liked, had good seasoning and was complemented by their house made Bubi’s sauce. The bacon seemed over cooked and wasn’t to my liking, however the fried onions were pleasing and gave the burger a pleasant taste. All in all this burger still surprised me with interesting elements that weren’t entirely outshined by the grilled cheese.

If you’re looking for a lively spot to have brunch or lunch, “The Twisted Apron” is the place to be. I’d heard good things about the ‘Twisted Burger’ and was curious to see if it lived up to the hype; I had a feeling it would the moment the plate hit the table and I caught a glimpse of the melted brie cheese.
I was already craving more after the first juicy bite. The high quality brie cheese topped the patty that was cooked to perfection giving it a creamy finish. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. A light mix of garlic mayo and bacon jam paired perfectly together adding notes of savoury sweetness. The crispy red onions and toasted bun rounded this burger off with a quality crunch.
The ‘twisted burger’ is listed at 16.50. Sides are offered a la carte so for an extra five dollars I opted to add fries. Good value for this quality meal.

Sometimes a burger craving hits in the most unexpected places, so while the rest of my group ordered pizza and pasta dishes, I opted for the ‘Windsor Pizza Burger’ at Armando’s Pizza Bar. The delicious aroma of pizza in the air solidified my choice, I couldn’t wait for the tasty combination of two of my favourite foods. The burger arrived on a toasted bun topped with round slices of pepperoni and fresh sautéed mushrooms, both of which were tasty. The burger came with two patties which were slightly disappointing as they were thin and a little dry. A slice of mozzarella and a nice quantity of sweet tomato sauce topped the patty making it a bit more appealing but overall this burger lacked in flavour and isn’t one I would order again.
If you’ve had a great pizza burger somewhere that you think I should try let me know!

As I continue my lengthy search for the world’s best burger I stumbled next upon a west Windsor classic, Rock Bottom.
I browsed the menu’s burger options until
finding the one that most piqued my interest: the "Jalapeño Cheddar Burger".
Though spice and heat aren’t always my palate’s preference, I decided to give it a shot. It arrived on a non-toasted kaiser bun and was topped with thick cut jalapeños, fresh lettuce and tangy red onions.
The patty, while flavourful, was
overpowered by the spice of this burger. The
cheddar sauce was dry and spicy tasting with a texture more like a processed cheese spread.
The bacon is marinated in a spicy
jalapeño brine which made for a good punch and pleasant flavour. This burger came with no additional sauces which was a big miss in my opinion.

The G.O.A.T. Is home to a fantastic burger, one so flavourful and well seasoned. This burger consists of two patties, each one topped with a single slice of melted cheddar cheese. An amazing toasted and buttered bun holds the burger together. The burger is topped with just enough lettuce and the bacon was crisp and added a nice texture. The star, however, is the truffle aioli - a topping so delectable and creamy you’ll wish you could take a bottle home. The Bacon chipotle burger is perfectly balanced flavour wise.
