My Truelight Books
When I saw the need for local books for children, I was still teaching in Harrow. I wrote about our well known Harrow Fair and was fortunate to have a local artist,Yolanda Lamoure agree to illustrate it. She went onto to do two other books with me; “A Cookie for the Christ Child” and “Mei Ling Discovers Jack. From the beginning,I was led to call my company Truelight, taken from the Gospel of John 1:9.
Having access to good illustrators is so important and I feel very fortunate in the women who have agreed to help me. Ann Ducharme did “No says I love you,” Elsie Ring did some unique water-colour art for a book about Point Pelee. Most recently Marilyn McLean has beautifully illustrated 4 books; the first was for an adult novel”Two at the Crossroads”, then she did “True Friends-a Jack Miner Tale” in 2015, “It’s a Grandma Day” in 2016 and “Red Dragon Rises” in 2017. Two men helped with other books as photographers;Toni Colarossi did “Portraits of an Orchestra” and Jon Taylor produced a collection of historic photographs about “Christ Church centered in Colchester” in 2005. Tim Swaddling did computer drawings for the fire safety book, “I know the Rules. Don’t YOU?” which are fun.
The Treasures in my company are the books but much morefor people, are the life stories I continue to do for Hospice and for people who request them. These life stories become treasures for their families and I feel honoured to help record them. It is a joy to write for shildren and adults. I also blog at my website http://janebuttery.com If you’d like more about the books and prices,it is there.
