I always say to my clients, your happiness matters most. This week brought a reminder many people can relate to. 🌧️ The holidays are behind us, winter can feel long, and routines are settling back in. For many, energy is lower and motivation can be harder to find. If that resonates, you are not alone.

When things feel heavy, it helps to return to the fundamentals that support your wellbeing, not through big changes, but through small, steady habits.

A few practical reminders that can help:
Check in with yourself and notice what is draining your energy and what restores it.
Focus on what you can control, even if it is one small step today.
Give yourself permission to slow down when needed, without guilt.
Reconnect with people who support you and help you feel grounded.
Remember that how you feel right now is not permanent.

Happiness is not about having everything perfectly figured out. It is about feeling aligned, supported, and confident that you are moving in the right direction.

That applies to life, work, and your finances.

If something has been weighing on you, the first step is often acknowledging it and knowing you do not have to navigate it alone. Happiness matters, especially this time of year.

Happy Father’s Day

Today is a chance to reflect and appreciate the dads, stepdads, and father figures who show up in all the ways that matter.

For the advice you needed, the support you counted on, and the example you learned from — thank you.

Wishing you a meaningful day, whether you’re celebrating, remembering, or simply thinking about what fatherhood has meant in your life.

When should I take my CPP?

If you’re fortunate enough to have a choice on when to start taking CPP to maximize your pension, consider yourself lucky. In Canada, about 50-60% of people take CPP early out of necessity.

[Not shown in video below] If you don’t need it right away, the decision can be tougher. It’s hard to predict how long you’ll live, making it challenging to pinpoint the ideal timing to maximize your benefits.

In general, delaying CPP can lead to a higher monthly payment. For some, this added income is worth the wait, especially if you’re in good health and expect a longer retirement. On the other hand, if you want more income in the early, active years of retirement, taking it sooner may suit you better.

Ultimately, the right choice balances your financial needs, health, lifestyle, and peace of mind. Send me a message if you’d like to chat about what’s best for you.
