Welcome to the information page for the 1st annual Miss Border City Pageant, located on stage at Windsor Light Music Theatre on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019, at 1 p.m. Registration form for the pageant is now available and located here!
The goal of this pageant is to give kids a chance to dress up, feel fancy and play prince or princess for the day. Pageants are a great place for little ones to make new friends, learn confidence by going up on stage, practice public speaking (if they want to!) and gain experience in performing, not only in front of their friends and family but for an entire audience. This is a single category pageant that will be based in Windsor, Ontario on Saturday, June 22nd, 2019, at 1 p.m. The theme of the category is 'Glitz and Glam'.
CONTESTANT AND GUARDIAN INFORMATION
Please arrive 30 minutes before your stage time, and confirm your spot at our registration table. Each participant will receive a ribbon with their contestant number on it and swag bag when registering. Stage time is the time you are expected to be lined up for the stage. From there contestants can stay with their parent or guardian in the audience until their age group competes, where they will line up and wait for their time on the stage. MC will then bring each age group on stage for a group line up, followed by individual introductions (ages 4 and up will be given the chance to introduce themselves by telling us their name, age, hobbies or anything interesting about themselves before they walk)! When the MC calls them up each child will be given up to 1 minute each after their introduction to strut their stuff to the upbeat dance music playing - shashay across, show the judges some poses; show off their outfit and smile for the audience! Afterwards they can exit across the other side of the stage and have a seat until their age group is finished. From there, after each category the judges will tally their scores and come up with an age category winner, a 1st runner up and a 2nd runner up, which will be announced after a brief break between each age groups.

1) Infant (Under 2 years old; parent assisted if required)
2) Toddler (2 - 4 years old; parent assisted if required)
3) Early Elementary (5 - 7 years old)
4) Middle Elementary (8-10 years old)
5) Late Elementary (11-13 years old)
6) High School (14-18 years old)
Boys:
7) Preschool (Infant - 5 years old)
8) Elementary (6-11 years old)
*Categories are subject to possibly be split if over 20 entries, or merged if 5 or less.
*Please enter your child based on their age by the date of the pageant (June 22nd, 2019). Maximum of 25 registrants per category.
Ensemble Requirements
The theme of this pageant is "Glitz and Glam", so dress to impress in your best outfit! Judges are looking for ensembles and dresses as cute, fabulous, matching and well put together as possible - from the contestants hair right down to the toes. Costumes will not be provided; your child's outfit is completely the responsibility of the entrant and their guardian, and can be acquired from any seamstress or store of your choosing. Vulgar or offensive words are prohibited as well anything deemed “inappropriate” for children’s eyes. This is a family friendly pageant. Keep it classy!
Cost
Contestant entry into the pageant is $75.00 CAD ( Now only $60.00 CAD for the month of January with the 'Early Bird' rate - see here!). Payment is non-refundable. Payment includes the child's entry into the single category event for their age; the contestant and one parent/guardian's entry price to view the pageant, a MBC personalized contestant ribbon and number, a welcome 'swag bag' just for entering, and of course the possibility of winning the 1st Place Border City Grand Supreme title and all prizes in their age division! Ticket's for additional family members, friends etc. can be purchased at the door. Under 3 is free; Students - $5; Adults - $10.
Judgement
Contrary to popular belief, this pageant is not at all just about looks. Yes, we want to see all of your beautiful kids in their lovely dresses, and of course that counts for something! But the judges are also equally basing their marks on your child's confidence, personality, poise and presence on stage. If you have a baby, make them giggle and smile for their time on stage; if you have a toddler or child let them enjoy their special time to shine up there and show us their personality!
Judging will be based on several different criteria:
1) Confidence and Poise (0-25 points )
2) Personality and Stage Presence (0-25 points)
3) Ensemble/Styling (0-25 points )
4) Beauty and Overall Look (0-25 points)
Total: 100 points
After each age category the judges will tally their separate score cards and determine based on points who the winner is. In the very rare event of a tie in points, the judges will then each cast a ballot of whom they think should win of the two contestants to confirm a clear winner.
Our judges are from a variety of backgrounds - seasoned in the pageant circuit, beauty world and performance arenas, including a Former Miss Universe Canada contestant, a professional stylist and beauty instructor from SCC, and an accomplished stage and performing artist.
This event's director is the owner and operator of Jacqueline Paige Photography and the pageant’s director J.P. Khalil, who also starred on the TV show and holds the title of "Miss Instant Beauty Windsor".
Host and MC of the show is Mr. Jim Reid, a seasoned stage performer who has starred in several short films, musicals, stage performances, and announced with the Windsor Spitfires. As an educator with over 28 years of experience and currently working with grade 4/5 students, he will undoubtedly give our young contestants a comfortable, fun and interactive experience while up on stage!

Venue is on stage at Windsor Light Music Theatre, located at 2491 Jos St. Louis, Windsor, Ontario, N8T 2M4. Parking lot available at venue.
Media and Photographs
When your little one is on stage, please feel free to snap away or take video, but we will also have a professional videographer and photographer to get you some great shots of your little star! There will be a backdrop setup up and our photographer will be able to get you some beautiful professional shots of your little ones, which can be purchased afterward by contacting Jacqueline Paige Photography in the days following the event if desired. Please have their sash on for at least one photo and remember this number so we can track each child. Prices TBA.
