✨HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY✨

Here’s a look back at how much has changed for women right here in Canada!

• In Ontario in 1884, the Married Women’s Property Act meant that married women had the same legal rights as men and could purchase property; Manitoba did not follow suit until the 1900’s
• In 1909 an amendment to the criminal code made it illegal to kidnap women (prior to that, it was completely legal to kidnap women over the age of 16 years old, UNLESS the woman was a heiress)
• By 1918 all Caucasian women are given the right to vote Federally, but it would take until 1951 for Provincial voting privileges to extend to Caucasian women in every province and territory; Aboriginal women would not receive that privilege until 1960.
• In 1921, British Columbia passes legislation that gives women maternity leave for simply 6 weeks before and after birth (for a total of 12 weeks); it would take until 1964 for other Canadian provinces to recognize maternity leave.
• Canada’s Olympic Team includes females for the very first time in 1928
• In 1929, thanks to the unwavering dedication of a strong willed group of women before us, women finally became persons under law and could now hold political office.
• Ontario passes the Fair Employment Practices Act in 1951 (creating fines and a complaints system to minimize discrimination) along with the Female Employees Fair Renumeration Act (to tackle the wage gap).
• In 1985, Sections 15 and 28 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms comes into effect, which established the constitutional right to equality, meaning the Government could no longer discriminate based on s*x or s*xual orientation.
• As recent as 1983, Bill C-127 makes s*xual assault/rape within the context of marriage a crime.

In the year 2021, it’s easy to lose sight of what had to be fought for and won. You CAN be the change you wish to see - to hopefully one day live in a society that provides the same rights, freedoms and treatment to all human beings, regardless of race, s*x, s*xual orientation or personal beliefs.

Henna brows can benefit anyone! Just ask my husband 😂
I was curious to see how they would turn out on someone with virtually no brow hairs, as I’m a perfectionist and won’t offer something if it does not work, or in this case, look okay (as Henna can take darker to the brow hairs than to the skin), and the result was amazing. Brows on fleek, for the first time in his life 💁🏼‍♀️

❓What are they ❓
Henna Brows are a form of eyebrow tinting that is used to stain the skin beneath the brow hairs and the hairs themselves. The purpose of this is to cast a shadow or create an illusion of depth and fullness in the area, visually filling in any sparseness.

❓How often will I have to get it done ❓
They are said to typically last for 6-8 weeks; however, lifestyle, rate of cell turnover, and the amount of oil the skin produces all play a factor in some lasting longer than others.

❓How long does it take ❓
Approximately 45-60 mins

❓Is there any downtime ❓
You just cannot get them wet for 48 hours.
