Nobody asked "Why? Why do you grind the mower blades wet?" It's all about heat! Let's answer the question. But first, you'll need a bit of information about heat-treatment. When steel is hardened, it requires tempering, which is basically baking the steel at a specific temperature. This is done to get a balance of toughness and hardness. Now, let's answer the question, "why wet?" The cutting edge of the mower blade should not exceed the original tempering temperatures. If it does, it will not hold an edge as well and it will become dull quickly. Grinding the blade wet reduces the chances of exceeding the temperature and keeping it factory hard.
