Polar bear triplets are rare, and even rarer is a mother who manages to keep all three alive. More mouths to feed. More energy burned. More risk, every single day. Most don’t make it.

This one did.

Triplet polar bear cubs are rare and incredibly demanding for a mother in the wild.

We spent hours watching this family move slowly along the Hudson Bay coastline as the cubs played, wrestled, and explored, never straying far. Eventually, they tired themselves out and piled up together, with mom right in the middle.

That quiet moment of protection and connection became Family Rest — now shortlisted for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year – Nuveen People’s Choice Award.
