Willow Roots Productions is in search of a Director to collaborate with us (well, ok, really just Willow 😅) on further developing and polishing our 2025 Jenny Award Winning one-woman show "A Le***an in the Kitchen: A Cosy Q***r Baking Show" ahead of our planned 2026 Canadian Fringe circuit tour, and hopefully more and bigger plans beyond!

You will be compensated for your work. Either with a flat fee, a profit sharing arrangement, or a secret 3rd thing. We'll figure out what works best for everyone involved.

Our ideal candidate will meet as many of the following criteria as possible:
1) experience directing devised theatre
2) a member of the q***r community
3) disabled/living with a disability
4) people of marginalised genders, cultures or religions
5) local to Winnipeg

Please don't hesitate to reach out even if you don't meet these criteria! No list of traits can guarantee two people will be able to effectively collaborate and connect to make this show.the best it can be.

All applications received before 2 January 2026 will be assessed at the same time in the early new year. After that, if we have not found a director who is a good fit, we will assess any new applications in the order they're received rather than as a batch.

All applicants will be contacted, whether successful or not, at every stage of the selection process.

"A Le***an in the Kitchen" is a one-woman, multimedia stage play that combines a 50's TV baking show with a Fringe storytelling show to challenge and deconstruct the requirements, expectations, and "One Right Way To Do It"(tm)'s of traditional values, methods, and gender roles.

All while baking sweet treats and sharing the stories and techniques behind Willow's favourite recipes.
