English Explorers

Classes have begun at English Explorers! We’re back to school in Basel! In my private tutoring sessions, I teach children ages 4-12 everything they need to know about English Literacy. Here is one of my 4 year old students working on letter formation 🧠🙌🏽💪🏽

It’s day one of Take Flight for a new student today! 🥳 Take Flight is a comprehensive reading program for children with Dyslexia. Each lesson is multi-sensory and incorporates all aspects of learning how to read: phonemic awareness, handwriting, spelling, vocabulary, fluency, and reading comprehension. Does your child have Dyslexia? Is he or she receiving the intervention necessary to remediate the deficits? I provide in person and online therapy to children with Dyslexia. Learning English sentence starters this week @ English Explorers: “I want/need… / He wants/needs…/ She wants/needs…”. With a little help from Laura Joffe Numeroff’s book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie 🍪 so many options:
-The students can practice the sentence starter with the different vocabulary words from the story. Example: “He/It wants a ___.”
-You can use a different predictable text book that repeats vocabulary from the story. Students move vocabulary pictures into the story as they read each sentence aloud. Example: “I need a ____.”
-You can play bingo with the vocabulary. During play, encourage students to point out what picture’s each child still needs on his/her board. Example: “He/She needs _____.”
I am positive everyone will be able to say “I want a cookie!” at the end of this lesson! 😀🍪.
