Sustainable Photography

Lanzarote has mainly been shaped by one person, local architect César Manrique. He built houses, viewpoints and gardens respecting the local circumstances. He is also mainly responsible for the white colour of all the local houses and managed to have the government agree on sustainable measures. Because of him, houses can not be built higher than 2 stories anymore in order to not have them blocking the views and winds.

Lanzarote is a 100% volcanic island with an average of 5 rainy days per year. Still, they manage to have a flourishing wine business there. The vines are planted in a little funnel. The morning dew rolls down into the funnel and thanks to the porous volcanic ground, the water is distributed evenly throughout the day to the roots of the vine. No water added. Every few days, the funnel is being sweeped to ensure the water goes only to the vine.

In honor of all hallows, a spooky kind of mushroom image from this weekends mushroom hunt. As a sustainable photographer, I take only pictures and leave only footprints.
