From Geneva to the Luberon 🌿
Nestled in the heart of Provence, between the Durance valley and the Apt basin, the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon is a remarkable territory of biodiversity, heritage and breathtaking landscapes.
A few days in the field with Giovan Peyrotty, Director of SciencEscape, and Lillian Car, Ecological Engineer at the Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon.
The footage is in the bag — can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on!
In the summer of 1816, Mary Shelley sat by Lake Geneva. It was dark, cold, and it rained for months. This « year without a summer » gave birth to Frankenstein.
But what caused it? An eruption,12’000 kilometers away.
Mount Tambora, in Indonesia, had just produced the most powerful volcanic eruption in recorded history.
Massive amounts of sulfur dioxide were blasted into the stratosphere, creating a global veil that reflected sunlight back into space.
In Switzerland, crops failed. Famine spread. People thought the world was ending.
For science, it was proof of how fragile and interconnected our climate really is.
