Cyspera vs hydroquinone:
Although the question being posed was, "Cyspera vs. hydroquinone?" The answer isn't as simple as one or the other. Both options are backed by science and have extensive research showing results. What it comes down to is what works for you. Although it can take time to find the right combination that works for you, working with a board-certified dermatologist like Dr. Love can help expedite the process.
In her post, says that she prescribes hydroquinone every day, but only for short periods and in cases of well-defined pigmentation.
Cyspera can be used daily, and she recommends it mostly for long-term and large surface area treatment.
Hyperpigmentation is one of the most demanding conditions to treat and keep under control. Until Cyspera, there weren't any long-term, non-photosensitive options for us to use. We attended the Skin of Color Update () meeting, and we're already looking forward to the next one. The SOCU meeting is committed to filling in the gaps in education and training that have contributed to disparities in the dermatologic and aesthetic treatment of patients with skin of color.
Hyperpigmentation can affect anyone. Melasma is a disorder of melanocytes, the cells that produce skin pigmentation. Those with darker skin are more likely to experience the condition making it more prevalent in women of color.
This meeting is so important to us, and we hold the entire community close to our hearts. As long as people are struggling with hyperpigmentation, we will work hard to come up with solutions
