Post Tenebras Lux / Starting 21st January

To all our friends commuting in Geneva to enjoy a deserved snow break in the Alps... where all the ski resorts are open, It's not too late to enjoy also some festive atmosphere in the city ! During this Covid crisis, we all deserve it.

The illumination project “Post Tenebras Lux” was created by Guillaume Barazzone. One day he decided to give more life to Geneva. After all, post Christmas is a colourful and joyful holiday too.

More than half a million of lamps and 14 km of tinsels all over trees. Every year, La Ville de Geneve participates in the creation of our beautiful town decorations.

83E COUPE DE NOEL - WINTER SWIMM !

Geneva’s oldest sporting event is of course the famous Coupe de Noel! A very original swimming competition, during which every participant, must swim 125 meters in the freezing cold waters of Lake Leman. La Coupe de Noel is the biggest outdoor swimming competition in open water and of course a real challenge for those who participate and a fascination for those who simply watch. This year the event will take place on December 18th and is estimated to attract approximately 1,500 participants for its 83th edition, a rather impressive figure considering that the water temperature is expected to be less than 12° C…

The funny costumes, high spirits and a glass of hot wine are the secret weapons of those brave, cold-defying people!

MONTREUX JAZZ
Until 30th October

The musical event of the season, here it is: the Montreux Jazz. The Léman festival is back on the front of the stage with a second edition that is more autumnal than ever. From October 27 to 30, the Petit Palais will be the scene of exclusive concerts with warm and jazzy tones.

Autumn of Music, here is the sweet name of the new edition which will soon resonate in this unique architectural setting. On the menu for the festivities: unprecedented encounters with big names in jazz, legendary concerts, unmissable jam-sessions and workshops ...
