Are we becoming better at "talking" to machines than to each other?

Lately, I’ve noticed a fascinating (and slightly alarming) trend.

We spend hours tweaking "prompts" for AI. We obsess over the right phrasing to get the best output. We’ve become masters at optimising our instructions for algorithms.

But when was the last time we applied that same level of intention to how we "prompt" the humans in our lives?

In my work with people, I’ve seen that the greatest bottleneck to innovation isn't the lack of tech. It’s the lack of deep human connection.

As we lean into AI as our "cognitive exoskeleton," we cannot afford to let our human muscles atrophy.

In fact, we need to double down on what I call the "Stubbornly Human" skills:

𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 → AI can analyse sentiment, but it can’t feel the "elephant in the room." Reading group dynamics and building trust is the heartbeat of leadership.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝗖𝗢" 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 → We talk about human-AI teams, but if we haven't mastered human-to-human co-creation, the tech will only amplify our silos.
𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 → A machine can optimise for a KPI. Only a human can possess the values to say "no" to a profitable but harmful algorithmic choice.

My challenge to you today: Next time you use AI to save an hour of work, don’t just use that hour to do more work.

Use it to:
👉 Have a real, messy, unstructured conversation with a colleague.
👉 Practice radical empathy with a stakeholder you disagree with.
👉 Focus on the "Meaning-Making" that no bot can replicate.

Working with tech (not for tech) means using the efficiency of AI to buy back the time for what matters most: Us.

I’m curious to hear your perspective:
If we treat our human interactions with the same precision and care we give our AI prompts, what would change in your team tomorrow?

Which cluster do you feel is your "priority update" for 2026?
1️⃣ Deep Human (EQ & Ethics)
2️⃣ Collaborative (The "Together" factor)
3️⃣ Cognitive (Critical Thinking & Adaptability)
