Meet Constance!
In 2023 when Chance for Children (CFC) expanded its reach to Takoradi, we wanted to understand the needs of street children and their families in the region. This meant we needed to gather information on the characteristics, needs, and resources of the communities we would be working with to enable us to design and implement programs that effectively address the challenges faced by street children and families.
Constance Ashai, a social worker at CFC's Takoradi, played a pivotal role in this process. Leveraging her communication skills and fluency in the Fante language, Constance engaged with various stakeholders and community leaders. She built trust with the children, their families, and community leaders, fostering a collaborative environment.
Today, Constance continues to engage with street children in Takoradi, ensuring they have a stronger voice. She collaborates with all stakeholders, including community leaders, to actively protect children's rights.
Thank you, Constance, for all your hard work!

Meet Bernice!
"Walt Disney once said, 'All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them'."
I've always been drawn to working with children, because of their vulnerability and the critical role support plays in shaping their futures. And having worked for the past year at CFC’s Kumasi Branch, I've witnessed firsthand how the right support can translate into tangible, life-changing impact.
One incident that I'll never forget was when a beneficiary's caregiver faced significant challenges due to a prolonged illness, leading to physical disability and a loss of income. She also suffered an amputation, further compounding the family's struggles and impacting the child's education.
This situation demanded a multi-faceted approach. So, I developed an intervention plan. Among other things, I worked closely with the family and assisted in enrolling the child in a nearby school. I also advocated for support from the District Social Welfare office and secured a wheelchair for the caregiver to enable her to trade to ensure the family’s economic independence.
Witnessing the positive impact of these interventions – the child returning to school, and the caregiver regaining a sense of independence – was incredibly rewarding.
The bonds I've formed with these individuals during this journey are invaluable, and I cherish the opportunity to play a role in enabling positive change in their lives every day!
Thank you, Bernice, for all the hard work!
