The 2019 African Economic Outlook (AEO) analyses macroeconomic developments and prospects in Africa. The analysis shows that Africa’s GDP growth is estimated at 3.5 percent in 2018. Growth for 2019 and 2020 is projected at 4 and 4.1 percent, respectively, thanks to factors such as mild recovery in commodity prices, improved macroeconomic stability.

Ethiopia: July 2018
The annual inflation rate in Ethiopia decreased to 14 percent in July from 14.7 percent in June. This increase in the general consumer price index is attributed to the rise observed in the indices of food and non-alcoholic beverages 16.7 percent, alcoholic beverages and to***co by 7.6 percent, clothing and footwear by 15.1 percent, house rent, construction materials, water and fuel and power by 5.1 percent, furniture, furnishings, household equipment and operation by 22.6 percent, health 17.7 percent, transport by 5.9 percent, communication by 1.2%, recreation and culture by 8.2 percent, restaurant and hotels 15.3 percent and miscellaneous goods by 16.5 percent.
