An irregular sleep schedule weakens the body, it becomes hard to think, the desire to do something disappears and there is a feeling of detachment from the world, and the risk of stress increases. But how much sleep? 6? 7? 8? Or all ten hours?
"Sleep plays a key role in almost every aspect of physical health. Both decreased and increased sleep duration, as well as sleep disturbances resulting in sleep fragmentation, are associated with adverse health consequences," said Evgeny Shlyakhto, cardiologist at the Russian Ministry of Health.
Lack of sleep provokes an increase in heart rate, which puts additional strain on the heart. But even an overabundance (more than 9 hours) is bad for the body's health.
"Most adults (25-64 years old) need 7-9 hours of sleep, and 6-8 hours of sleep is necessary for the elderly. Optimal for the cardiovascular system is 7 hours of sleep," the expert emphasized.
