150 YEARS FROM NOW

150 years from now, none of us reading this post today will be alive.

70 percent to 100 percent of everything we are fighting over right now will be totally forgotten. Underline the word, TOTALLY.

If we go back memory lane to 150 years before us, that will be 1872, none of those that carried the world on their heads then are alive today. Almost all of us reading this will find it difficult to picture anybody's face of that era.

Pause for a while and imagine how some of them betrayed their relatives and sold them as slaves for a piece of mirror.
Some killed family members just for a piece of land or tubers of yam or cowries or for a pinch of salt. Where is the yam, cowries, mirror, or salt that they were using to brag? It may sound funny to us now, but that is how silly we humans are sometimes, especially when it comes to money, power or trying to be relevant!

Even when you claim the internet age will preserve your memory, take Michael Jackson as an example.
Michael Jackson died in 2009, just 13 years ago. Imagine the influence Michael Jackson had all over the world when he was alive. How many young people of today remember him with awe, that is if they even know him? In 150 years to come, his name, when mentioned, will not ring any bell to a lot of people.

Let us take life easy, nobody will get out of this world alive. . .
The land you are fighting and ready to kill for, somebody left that land, the person is dead, rotten, and forgotten. That will also be your fate. In 150 years to come, none of the vehicles or phones we are using today to brag will be relevant. Biko, take life easy!

Let love lead. Let’s be genuinely happy for each other. No malice, no backbiting. No jealousy. No comparison. Life is not a competition.

At the end of the day, we will all transit to the other side. It is just a question of who gets there first, but surely we will all go there someday.

NDEFCAM PERSPECTIVE.

Reinstate Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Conflict-Affected North-West and South-West Regions of Cameroon.

The ongoing situation surrounding the suspension of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) activities in the Anglophone North-West region of Cameroon is a complex and troubling issue that highlights the critical importance of access to essential medical care in conflict-affected areas. The actions taken by the Cameroonian government to block MSF's operations, based on accusations of being too close to separatists in the regions, have far-reaching implications for the health and well-being of the local population.

The decision to suspend MSF's provision of free emergency medical care and ambulance services, despite the organization's long-standing commitment to humanitarian principles and its denial of allegations linking it to local armed groups, raises serious questions about the government's priorities and its duty to ensure the welfare of ordinary civilians. By impeding MSF's ability to deliver vital healthcare services, the government is effectively leaving vulnerable communities in the North-West and South West regions without access to life-saving medical assistance, exacerbating an already dire situation characterized by armed violence and instability.

The arrest of two MSF staff members who were merely carrying out their duty to transfer a patient with gunshot wounds on December 26 2021, to the hospital in Nguti in the Southwest region , emphasize the challenges faced by humanitarian organizations operating in these regions. This incident not only symbolizes a blatant disregard for the principles of medical neutrality and the protection of healthcare workers but also highlights the risks faced by those on the front lines of providing critical care in dangerous environments.

The suspension of MSF's operations has had a profound impact on the availability of essential medical services in a region where communities are already grappling with the devastating effects of armed conflict. The services provided by MSF in 2020 - including the treatment of survivors of sexual violence, mental health consultations, surgeries, and ambulance transportation for thousands of patients, many of whom were women about to give birth - demonstrate the crucial role that the organization plays in addressing the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations, particularly in times of crisis and emergency.

It is imperative that the Cameroonian government prioritizes the well-being of its citizens, particularly those in conflict-affected regions, by lifting the ban on MSF's activities and allowing the organization to resume its life-saving operations. By doing so, the government would not only demonstrate its commitment to upholding the right to healthcare for all individuals but also ensure that communities in the North-West and South West regions have access to the essential medical care they urgently require, especially during periods of heightened violence and insecurity.

Ultimately, the suspension of MSF's activities in the Anglophone regions of Cameroon represents a troubling disregard for the health and safety of civilians in need of emergency medical assistance. The government must take immediate action to lift the ban on MSF and facilitate the continuation of essential healthcare services to ensure that vulnerable populations receive the care and support they desperately need in the face of ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis.
"Affair a suivre."
