Gender Transformative Education for a Brighter Future

Some school Administrators and teachers from GSS Kang Barombi and GBHS Muea gathered for a comprehensive training on Gender Transformative Education (GTE).

This capacity-building initiative aimed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to create a safe, inclusive, and conducive learning environment for adolescent girls.

Key highlights of the training included: reducing barriers to adolescent girls’ education, Safeguarding and child protection, Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).

By integrating these components, educators will be better equipped to promote gender equality, challenge harmful gender stereotypes, foster a culture of respect and create an enabling school milieu for these girls to explore their potentials.

On October 2024, NADEV invited education Policy makers, school administrators, teachers, traditional leaders, community stakeholders and partners to a one-day inception meeting to a project entitle “Enhancing Gender Transformative Education in South West Cameroon”. The meeting was geared towards raising the awareness of these stakeholders on the barriers to adolescent girls’ education, draw their attention on gender responsive education and to give the adolescent girls the opportunity to explore their potentials. It was a period of experience sharing as these stakeholders shared their view points towards gender transformative education and looked forward in promoting it in schools and communities.
