*N°118: 5 secrets pour une vie de prière productive ?* Pt.7

Mais l'Esprit lui-même intercède par des soupirs inexprimables ; et celui qui sonde les cœurs connaît quelle est la pensée de l'Esprit, parce que c'est selon Dieu qu'il intercède en faveur des saints.* Romains 8.26-27

*Secret #5 : Tirez avantage du potentiel illimité de la prière en esprit*

« Charles Finney était un homme qui connaissait quelque chose sur le Saint-Esprit. Il est connu comme l’homme qui avait prié pour les réveils. Il tenait une réunion de réveil dans une certaine ville. L'épouse de l'un des principaux médecins de la ville était une merveilleuse chrétienne et un leader, mais le médecin lui-même était un infidèle. Il se moquait de sa femme. Elle pensait que Finney, qui avait été avocat, serait en mesure d'aider son mari.

Elle insistait pour que Finney vienne chez elle un de ses jours de congé. Il accepta de venir un lundi pour le repas de midi. Ce médecin avait un frère qui était cultivateur ; c'était un homme très religieux et il était venu assister aux réunions. Ce frère agriculteur restait à la maison avec le médecin et sa femme, alors à l'heure convenue, Finney vint et tout le monde s’assis à table.

La dame demanda à Finney de prier ; en baissant la tête, son esprit fut contrôlé et il sentit que le Seigneur voulait que le frère fermier prie. Le frère commença à prier, quand soudain il saisit son ventre et commença à gémir. Il sauta alors de table et courut vers sa chambre.

Le médecin pensa que quelque chose n'allait pas chez lui physiquement et se leva d'un bond pour suivre son frère. Finney le suivit. Alors que Finney entrait dans la chambre, le médecin sortait chercher son sac parce qu'il pensait que son frère avait des crampes d'estomac. Finney savait quel était le problème.

Il arrêta le médecin, l'informant qu'il n'y avait rien de mal avec son frère. Finney dit au médecin que son frère avait un esprit de travail et d'intercession et qu'il priait pour l'âme perdue du médecin. Le médecin se détacha de Finney et dit qu'il n'y croyait pas. Le médecin partit et Finney entra dans la pièce, s'agenouilla près du frère et commença à prier.

Vous pouvez aider à soulager une charge spirituelle tout comme vous pouvez aider à soulager une charge physique. Finney a déclaré qu'au bout de quelques minutes, il pouvait sentir le fardeau se décharger sur lui. Pendant quarante-cinq minutes, ils restèrent là à pleurer et à gémir. Lorsque vous faites cela, vous avez parfois l’impression que votre propre âme est perdue, mais en réalité ce n’est pas le cas. Parce que vous prenez sur vous le fardeau de quelqu'un d'autre, vous vous sentez réellement à l'intérieur de vous, comme si vous étiez perdu.

Certains ont eu cet esprit de gémissement et ne savaient pas ce que c'était. C'est une intercession pour une âme perdue. Si l’Esprit de Dieu vient sur vous et que des soupirs commencent à jaillir de votre homme intérieur, allez-y, soupirez et priez. Même si vous ne prenez pas sur vous de simplement gémir ou soupirez dans la chair, il y a un gémissement de l'Esprit lorsque le Saint-Esprit s'empare de vous dans la prière.

Finney dit qu'après avoir prié, ils se mirent à rire. Vous devriez toujours prier jusqu'à ce que vous ressentiez un sentiment de louange. Ils se réjouirent et riaient pendant un moment. Après que Finney soit descendu, il frappa à la porte du bureau du médecin. Il lui dit qu'il avait un mot pour lui de la part de son frère. Le médecin ouvrit la porte et lui demanda comment allait son frère.

Finney lui dit que son frère avait prié pour la pauvre âme perdue du médecin. Il ajouta qu'ils avaient prié jusqu'au bout et qu'il était pour ainsi dire sauvé. Finney confessa que le médecin avait baissé la tête et s'était mis à pleurer. Puis il tomba à genoux et fut glorieusement sauvé.

But the Spirit himself intercedes with groanings that cannot be uttered; and he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because he intercedes for the saints according to God.* Romans 8:26-27

*Secret #5: Take advantage of the unlimited potential of prayer in spirit*

“Charles Finney was a man who knew something about the Holy Spirit. He is known as the man who prayed down revivals. He was holding a revival meeting in a certain city. The wife of one of the leading doctors of the city was a wonderful Christian woman and leader, but the doctor himself was an infidel. He would make fun of his wife. She felt that Finney, who had been a lawyer, would be able to help her husband.

She kept insisting that Finney come to her house on one of his days off. He agreed to come on a Monday for the noon meal. This doctor had a brother who was a farmer; he was a very religious man and had come to attend the meetings. This farmer brother was staying in the home with the doctor and his wife, so at the time appointed, Finney came and everyone was seated at the table.

The lady asked Finney to pray; as he bowed his head, he was checked in his spirit and felt that the Lord wanted the farmer brother to pray. The brother began praying, when suddenly he took ahold of his stomach and started groaning. He then jumped up from the table and ran to his bedroom.

The doctor thought something was wrong with him physically, and jumped up to follow his brother. Finney followed. As Finney went into the room, the doctor was coming out to get his bag because he thought his brother had some kind of stomach cramps. Finney knew what the matter was.

He stopped the doctor, informing him that there was nothing wrong with his brother. Finney told the doctor that his brother had the spirit of travail and intercession and that he was praying for the doctor's lost soul. The doctor je**ed loose from Finney and said that he did not believe it. The doctor left and Finney went into the room and kneeled down by the brother, and began to pray.

You can help lift a spiritual load just like you can a physical load. Finney said that within a few minutes he could feel the burden coming off on him. For forty-five minutes they stayed there weeping and groaning. When you do this, sometimes you feel as if your own soul is lost, but really it isn't. Because you are taking someone else's burden upon yourself, you actually feel on the inside of you, as if you are lost.

Some have had this spirit of groaning and did not know what it was. It is intercession for a lost soul. If the Spirit of God comes upon you and groanings start welling up from your inner man, go ahead and groan and pray it out. Although you do not take it upon yourself to just groan in the flesh, there is a groaning of the Spirit when the Holy Spirit takes hold with you in prayer.

Finney said that after they had prayed, they started laughing. You should always pray until you have a feeling of praise. He said they rejoiced and laughed for a while. After Finney came downstairs, he knocked on the doctor's study door. He told him that he had a word for him from his brother. The doctor opened the door and asked him how his brother was.

Finney told him that his brother had been praying for the doctor's poor lost soul. He added that they had prayed it all through and that he was just as good as saved. Finney said the doctor dropped his head and started crying. Then he fell down on his knees and was gloriously saved.”
