140TH LABOUR CELEBRATIONS

The international holiday is observed on May 1st. It is most commonly associated as a commemoration of the achievements of the labour movement.

The holiday may also be known as International Worker's Day or May Day and is marked with a public holiday in over 80 countries.

The 2026 International Labour Day theme in Cameroon is "Social Dialogue and Decent Work: A Factor for Peace, National Cohesion, and the Economic Development of the Enterprise".

This theme highlights the need to strengthen communication between workers and employers to ensure stability, growth, and improved working conditions.
