My work celebrates the resilience of feminine energy in the aftermath of war. Drawing from my experience of surviving the bombing of Yugoslavia at age ten, l explore how destruction can be transformed into renewal. In this piece, the handmade doily (traditionally a symbol of care, craft, and domesticity) becomes a metaphor for the female spirit. Torn and re-stitched, it reflects both the violence of war and the strength to mend what was broken. Each repaired thread honors the women who, through tenderness and persistence, rebuild life from chaos. It is a tribute to the quiet power of creation, the ability to heal, restore, and weave beauty back into a wounded.
