BETWEEN GLOBALIZATION AND REGIONALIZATION

CONCEPT NOTE
Over the past decade, the European Center for Peace and Development (ECPD), established by the United Nations University for Peace, has led systematic research into the general topic “Reconciliation, Tolerance and Human Security in the Balkans”, with substantial support from the governments of Japan, Montenegro, Croatia and the Republic of Serbia.
Considerable knowledge has been gained through sequential scientific meetings, seminars, focused round tables and specialized lectures involving prominent scientists from all parts of the world. Ten international conferences have been organized, each devoted to some current aspect within the general thematic framework. The rich, relevant and lasting results of the work undertaken have been published in comprehensive proceedings, which provide a valuable basis for further research, a useful tool for projecting the future of the Balkans, and a means for perceiving international political, economic, cultural and spiritual dynamics and developmental trends in their regional and global context.
The Tenth Jubilee ECPD International Conference called for broadening the horizons of ECPD activities and its network of strategic partners and friends. Its previous experience would provide a solid foundation to link individual, regional and global plans to global processes. At the same time, ECPD should initiate a new cycle of educational and research activities, based on previous positive experience and accumulated knowledge.

The European Center for Peace and Development UN University for Peace organizes this School with the aim to bring together experts from different fields − physicians, pedagogues, psychologists, lawyers, social workers and other professionals and enable exchange of experience as well as provide the latest knowledge, practical and scientific achievements in the area of prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of substance abuse.
Director of the School is Prof. Dr. Slavica Đukić Dejanović, President of the Health and Family Committee at the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia and Director of the Clinic for Psychiatric Diseases “Dr. Laza Lazarević” in Belgrade and Co-Director is Prof. Dr. Zoran Zoričić, Director of the Croatian Society for Alcoholism and Other Addictions and President of the Croatian Association of Clubs of Treated Alcoholics.

It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the VIII ECPD International Summer School of Cardiovascular Disease (hereinafter referred to as: School). The European Center for Peace and Development University for Peace established by the United Nations (ECPD) traditionally organizes this Summer School with the aim to advance the knowledge of primary care providers, specialists in cardiology and other specialties in the latest technological and research developments, and guidelines for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The five-day program will focus on the latest research, technological advances and case study review as well as discussion on the guidelines and latest treatment options regarding the prevention, early detection and management of cardiovascular diseases. The School is intended for primary care doctors and specialists (cardiologists, endocrinologists, internists, pediatricians, etc.).

PHARMACOECONOMIC ASPECTS
OF THE HEALTH SYSTEMS
IN SOUTH EAST EUROPE
(Brijuni, 18 – 19 September 2015)

Considering the increasingly important role of pharmacoeconomics and pharmacoeconomic analysis in decision making, as well as still inadequately developed resources in this multidisciplinary field in the health systems of South Eastern Europe, European Center for Peace and Development UN University for Peace has initiated organising a series of regional conferences, round tables and meetings in the countries of the Region for key decision makers, with a view to improving and strengthening capacities in this field.

The Conference will be chaired by Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dirk Henke, Chair of Public Finance and Health Economics of the Institute of Economics and Commercial Law at the Technical University in Berlin.
