Q***r Wave presents Stella by Michalis Cacoyannis in four simultaneous screenings across Cyprus, inviting all in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos to experience this landmark film together, on the same night.
📍 Tuesday 31/03/26
🕣 20:30
Through a contemporary q***r lens, Stella returns as a work that still speaks powerfully to questions of gender, desire, autonomy and social expectation. Starring Melina Mercouri in one of the most unforgettable performances in Greek cinema, the film follows a woman who insists on living by her own terms, no matter the cost.
A bold and layered work by Cypriot-born director Michalis Cacoyannis, Stella remains striking not only for its cinematic force, but for the conversations it continues to open.
📌 Screenings take place in:
Nicosia - Pantheon Theatre
Limassol - Rialto Theatre
Larnaca - Lefkara Multifunctional Centre
Paphos - Centre of Letters and Arts
🎫 Presale in Nicosia & Limassol: €7
🎫 Free entrance in Larnaca & Paphos
📍 Free entry is also available to anyone who states they are unable to pay, with no questions asked.

Q***r Wave joins forces with Beyond DisDance to bring two powerful events to Limassol — both celebrating autistic q***r artistry and lived experience.
📍 Synergeio Culture Space – Tuesday 09/12/25
🖼 18:00–20:00 — Exhibition: Seeing (Me) Through

Directed by Panayotis Evangelidis and winner of Q***r Wave’s Audience Award, this intimate documentary follows the ongoing becoming of Sylvia Robyn Gionti — an autistic, non-binary trans artist living in Greece.
The screening will be relaxed, with lower sound, soft lighting and freedom of movement — ensuring a comfortable viewing space for neurodivergent audiences and anyone who prefers a less formal cinema setting.
Sylvia will join us in person for an open discussion and will share personal objects from her everyday life, also included in a tactile tour for visitors who are blind or visually impaired.

DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHERS
(Richard Oswald | 50’ | Weimar Republic | 1919)
🎼 Two male musicians fall in love, but blackmail and scandal makes the affair take a tragic turn. One of the
first gay-themed films in the history of cinema, Different from the Others was banned at the time of its
release, later burned by the N***s and was believed lost for more than forty years. Using recently
discovered film segments, still photos and censorship documents from various archives, Filmmuseum
München has resurrected this truly groundbreaking silent film.
🎬 Presented by Q***r Wave, this screening shines new light onto this work, now 106 years old, with an
ephemeral collage of ambient electronic music to be performed on stage by Yakovlev for this one-off
occasion. The film has never been, and will never again be, experienced by an audience in the same way.
