An Embodied Encounter with Bill Viola

A guided practice on the occasion of Bill Viola. Unspoken with artist Lia Haraki

🟡🟠Saturday 27 June, 11:00 & 12:30

Join artist Lia Haraki for a unique guided visit to Bill Viola's work, experienced through her embodied practice of "Vesseling" and empathetic viewing. Rather than observing the artworks from a distance, participants will be invited to tune into their own bodies, emotions, sensations, and breathing as they experience Viola's powerful video installations.

Through gentle guidance, the tour becomes a shared journey of presence, perception, and empathy, allowing one's inner experience to interact with the creative reality.

No preparation is needed—simply bring your body, your senses, and your breath.

Duration: approximately 50-60 minutes

Language: English

Participation is free but possible by reservation only.

Μια καθοδηγούμενη πρακτική με αφορμή την έκθεση Bill Viola. Unspoken με τη Λία Χαράκη

Η καλλιτέχνιδα Λία Χαράκη παρουσιάζει μια μοναδική βιωματική περιήγηση στο έργο του Bill Viola, μέσα από την βιωματική πρακτική του «Vesseling» και την ενσυναισθητική θέαση. Αντί να παρατηρούν τα έργα από απόσταση, οι συμμετέχοντες καλούνται να συντονιστούν με το σώμα, τα συναισθήματα, τις αισθήσεις και την αναπνοή τους, βιώνοντας τις ισχυρές βιντεοεγκαταστάσεις του Viola.

Μέσα από μια ήπια καθοδήγηση, η περιήγηση μετατρέπεται σε ένα κοινό ταξίδι παρουσίας, αντίληψης και ενσυναίσθησης, επιτρέποντας στην εσωτερική εμπειρία να αλληλεπιδράσει με την καλλιτεχνική πραγματικότητα.

Δεν απαιτείται καμία προετοιμασία — αρκεί να φέρετε το σώμα, τις αισθήσεις και την αναπνοή σας.

Διάρκεια: περίπου 50–60 λεπτά

A former carob warehouse, a masterpiece of Cypriot Modernism, and a hub for contemporary art, architecture and music. 

Established in Limassol in 2024, PSI Foundation supports contemporary artistic practices while fostering dialogue between Cyprus and the international art scene.

Its inaugural exhibition, Casts of an Island (2024), brought together 43 artists and more than 120 works reflecting on the complex legacy of the past fifty years in Cyprus.

Since then, through a dynamic programme of exhibitions, concerts, screenings, and lectures — all free and open to the public — the Foundation has sought to make high-quality & accessible cultural experiences. 🌊🎨🎶

Ιδρυμένο στη Λεμεσό το 2024, το PSI Foundation υποστηρίζει τη σύγχρονη καλλιτεχνική δημιουργία, καλλιεργώντας παράλληλα τον διάλογο μεταξύ της Κύπρου και της διεθνούς καλλιτεχνικής σκηνής.

Η εναρκτήρια έκθεσή του, Casts of an Island (2024), έφερε κοντά 43 καλλιτέχνες και περισσότερα από 120 έργα, τα οποία αναστοχάζονταν την πολύπλοκη κληρονομιά των τελευταίων πενήντα χρόνων στην Κύπρο.

Έκτοτε, μέσα από ένα δυναμικό πρόγραμμα εκθέσεων, συναυλιών, προβολών και διαλέξεων — όλες με ελεύθερη είσοδο — το Ίδρυμα επιδιώκει να προσφέρει πολιτιστικές εμπειρίες υψηλού επιπέδου, ανοιχτές σε ένα ευρύ κοινό.🌊🎨🎶

In this rare text, Bill Viola reflects on the relationship between inner and outer images, the experience of time, and the power of moving images to reveal what cannot be seen. Drawing from Renaissance painting, sensory deprivation, memory, birth and death, he considers video not as a medium of representation, but as a way of making visible the invisible connections that shape human experience.
