🚀 𝐍𝐕𝐈𝐃𝐈𝐀 𝐯𝐆𝐏𝐔 𝟐𝟎 & 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥: 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞, 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠

NVIDIA has released vGPU software version 20.0, adding support for the new Blackwell‑class GPUs: the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition (liquid‑cooled) and the RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell Server Edition. The release also introduces several technical improvements across the virtualization stack.

vGPU technology has long enabled sharing physical GPUs across virtual machines.

This update focuses on expanding hardware support and refining resource management. A key addition is the fixed share scheduler for time‑sliced vGPUs with different amounts of frame buffer on the same physical GPU, offering more flexible memory allocation for virtual instances. The release also brings support for the Wayland display server protocol and extends MIG‑backed vGPU capabilities on VMware vSphere 9 Update 1, allowing both compute and graphics workloads to be consolidated on a single GPU with hardware‑level isolation.

At the same time, NVIDIA has begun phasing out older hardware. vGPU 20.0 is the first release that no longer supports the Tesla V100 series, the Tesla M10, and the Quadro RTX 6000/8000 series.

🧠 𝗜𝗣𝗧𝗣 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁
The addition of Blackwell GPUs to the vGPU ecosystem allows operators to offer virtualized AI and graphics workloads on the latest hardware. With up to four MIG slices per GPU on the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell and a refined fixed share scheduler, capacity planning becomes more granular and predictable. Smarter memory allocation translates directly into higher consolidation ratios and more efficient infrastructure utilization.

Our facilities support the power and cooling requirements of Blackwell‑class GPUs, including liquid cooling options where needed.
