A few snapshots from our recent sheet metal bulge test evaluation carried out at Brno University of Technology (Vysoké učení technické v Brně ).

For this experiment, pressurized liquid was applied underneath the sheet metal specimen, causing the material to bulge upward under controlled pressure. The deformation was then measured through a protective glass window using our DIC3D system, allowing us to capture the sheet’s 3D deformation behavior at different pressure levels.

This setup helped us evaluate the material’s response under biaxial stretching conditions and provided valuable insight into sheet metal formability, pressure–deformation behavior, and performance during forming operations.

A great example of how optical measurement technology can support practical material testing and engineering research.
