We recently teamed up with Ghent University at the SCIVAC conference to present the deeper data from our latest feeding trials (which you might have already read about in our previous posts).

🏷️ Why do we refuse to say "lab-grown meat"?
In every emerging industry, language shapes trust. A single phrase can influence whether people feel curiosity, trust, or hesitation toward food innovation.
At BeneMeat, we deliberately use the term cultivated meat instead of "lab-grown meat." This isn’t marketing spin, it’s about scientific accuracy and transparency.
Here is why words matter:
🧪 Beyond the Lab: Every major food innovation begins in a laboratory, including yogurt, beer, and cheese. But we don't call beer "lab-made grain liquid." Our industry has scaled up into clean, food-grade manufacturing facilities, not research labs.
💡 Real Meat, Not Synthetic: The word "lab" makes people think of chemicals or synthetic experiments. In reality, cultivated meat is real animal meat grown from cells under strict food safety and regulatory standards.
🌱 Familiar Biology: "Cultivated" just means growing cells in a controlled environment. It belongs in the exact same category as everyday bio-processes we already love: cultured yogurt, fermented beer, brewed coffee.
"Cultivated meat" is the term that best reflects the science, the safety, and the true direction of our industry.
