FLAME
what wants to shine, has to burn
and we all have to disappear
those we do not call by name
our heart will recognize
when we stand in the light

a lot of darkness there is on the earth
a lot of cruel, blind misfortune –
should all this be more clear,
only one command helps:

we ourselves have to burn
and quietly vanish while shining
those who thusly increase the light
always find companions
those who stand by them.
