GPWS also monitors aircraft configuration during approach.
Descending below safe altitude without:
• landing gear extended
or
• landing flaps correctly set
…can trigger warnings.

The system uses:
✈️ radio altitude
✈️ aircraft configuration
✈️ airspeed/Mach number

to determine whether the aircraft is actually attempting to land.

Because forgetting configuration items close to the ground can become catastrophic very quickly.
