ABOUT

Chalupski is the main project of composer, pianist and guitarist Vaclav Chalupsky (Prague, CZE). It has been founded as a platform for the most crucial compositions and theirs live performances. Ever since, live concerts took place mostly in the Czech Republic, but also elsewhere in Europe. Musically, the core of the project is piano as the first compositions arrived as piano pieces. However, as the time went, Chalupski’s live performances now consist of combinations of piano sound and guitar/synth loops - on special shows accompanied by string quartet. As for the genre, Chalupski’s work fits into the contemporary classical/post-classical music. The breaking point of the story was a release of the first album Vortex in March 2019, which was well received by the audience. It was recorded in the Oscar Nedbal Theatre in Tabor by David Zeman, who also took care of master and mix. Recorded on a Petrof Grand Piano Vaclav used to play classical concerts on as a child, the album consists of solo piano pieces as well as compositions for piano and string quartet.
