We’ve partnered with Alap Hírek to support their journalists in creating election coverage that truly serves their audience. 🗳️ We met in Budapest and discussed the importance of actively listening to what people care about and how to report on key issues through a solutions lens.
With Hungary’s 2026 parliamentary elections approaching in a highly polarized media environment, this kind of reporting matters more than ever.
Instead of focusing only on polls, tactics, and political clashes, the goal is to bring attention to policies, real challenges,
and possible ways forward.
And ALAP’s audience already showed great interest in the solutions-driven approach. The team received more than 350 responses to their call-to-action indicating what topics matter to them 🗞️.
A big thank you to the Evens Foundation — this work wouldn’t be possible without their support. We truly value their partnership.
Together, we met with trainers from different age groups and backgrounds to talk more closely about the Level up project, the development of its game, and to get on the same wavelength so we’d be ready to train others.
This is how our Train the Trainers session in Prague went - once again in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Such a joy! And we’re already looking forward to hitting the road across the Czech Republic next ✨

You’ve already met Meenal and Kateřina S., so today it’s time to introduce Kateřina L. a little more closely 👀.
Kateřina is our Senior Media Literacy Manager & Digital Education Lecturer - a true all-rounder who develops media education projects, mainly for older adults, and jumps in wherever she’s needed. Think versatility, curiosity, and a deep passion for sharing knowledge.
What led her to Transitions? A love for teaching and working with older generations, whose life experience turns every workshop into a two-way exchange.
Outside of work, Kateřina is a solo traveler at heart, torn between the magic of Ireland and the Himalayas - for their history, landscapes, people, and yes, great food.
Her advice?
Never underestimate anyone’s ability to learn. Age is not a limit, curiosity is the key and asking the right questions will always matter more than having all the answers.
We’re very happy to have you, Kateřina ✨

How can solutions journalism help newsrooms truly belong to the communities they serve?
In our latest podcast episode, Meenal Thakur and Jeremy Druker speak with Catarina Carvalho, founder and editor of Mensagem de Lisboa, about what community-first journalism looks like in practice — from live journalism and deep listening to hyperlocal reporting on housing, climate, and urban life.
This conversation explores how small newsrooms can build trust, invite participation, and create impact far beyond the page and what larger media organisations can learn from them.
