Our Future is Science

Meet Tithi and Sai from Team 5! For their science engagement projects, Tithi and Sai conducted data analysis, interviews, and public health research to highlight systemic discrimination in the New Jersey and Maryland healthcare systems, while advocating for justice by amplifying minority voices and promoting equitable care solutions.

Tithi focused on racial minorities, finding that they face significant health inequities, including higher rates of misdiagnosis, inadequate care, and negative healthcare experiences due to systemic bias. Sai found that there needs to be improvement in the systems in place to help support women and non-binary individuals when they reach out for medical support.

Using the hashtag , they created Instagram campaigns sharing resources and statistics on these inequities and how to deal with discrimination in healthcare.

Adel reached out to local residents and business owners, environmental justice organizers, and public health advocates and created a media piece using storytelling, scientific data, and actionable steps to advocate for cleaner streets and more equitable waste policies. With over 200 views on Instagram, a growing flyer campaign, and community outreach, he’s helping amplify local voices and push for lasting change. 🗣️📢
