Pantarei Approach

I love warm weather. In my family, we often joke that we are more like lizards. At twenty-six degrees, our muscles finally begin to relax.

Our school in Berlin is on the top floor, with windows in the ceiling. It is beautiful, but on sunny days, the greenhouse effect can become quite intense.

This Tuesday, I was teaching a Language of Touch workshop for our practitioners. As people arrived, everyone looked for the nearest fan, wrapped cool towels around their necks, or searched for the coolest corner of the room. It quickly became clear that I could not teach exactly as I had planned. The warmth that I enjoy so much was challenging the workshop I had in mind. All my efforts to open the windows, create a cross breeze, and keep the fans and air conditioner running at full speed did not help.

There was nothing more I could do to change the temperature in the room. I simply allowed the heat to change the workshop. I shortened my lectures, and we spent more time practicing.

In the Pantarei Approach, we begin with what is already there. Rather than asking people to try to change their experience, we include it. That day, I was reminded that every change begins by including what is already there, even if it is simply the cool towels around our students' necks.

I carried that feeling home with me. I rolled down the windows, let even more warm air into the car, and sang along to the radio. The people cycling beside me looked over, laughed, and some even started singing too. For a few moments, we were all simply enjoying the summer day.

On July 17, we will open the doors of our studio in Winsstr. 60 from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM. There will be short introductions, time to meet people, and a tasty light buffet. We hope you'll leave not only knowing more about what we do, but having experienced it yourself.
