Up2Youth: 21.04.2026 – 22.04.2026

Ende April hat das erste Training im Rahmen des Projekts „Up2Youth“ in Palermo, Italien, stattgefunden. 20 Interessierte aus Frankreich, Italien, Griechenland, Spanien und Deutschland konnten dort die innovativen Methoden der „Urban Culture“ und „Active Citizenship“ kennenlernen, die das Projektteam zuvor erarbeitet hat.

🧐 Besonders spannend war die „No Mafia Walking Tour“, welche die Gruppe von Addiopizzo Travel erhalten hat. In dieser haben sie gelernt, was zivilgesellschaftliches Engagement mit „Urban Culture“ zu tun hat, wenn man es in einen Mafia-Kontext einbettet. Die Teilnehmenden haben dabei nicht nur interessante Einblicke in die Realitäten der Mafia erhalten, sondern sich auch mit der Bürgerbewegung gegen die Macht der Mafia in Palermo auseinandergesetzt.

Insgesamt war das Training nicht nur für die Teilnehmenden hilfreich. Die Projektverantwortlichen konnten von ihnen wertvolles Feedback zur Verbesserung der Methoden erhalten. Zudem hat die Gruppe weitere wichtige Impulse diskutiert, darunter das Thema Gamification in der Jugendarbeit, die Rolle von Workshopleitungen und die Frage, wie man Jugendarbeit inklusiver gestalten kann.

📆 Wir freuen uns auf die nächsten Projekt-Schritte und laden hiermit bereits herzlich zum Cultural Festival am 30. Oktober 2026 in Berlin ein! Dort stellen wir die Methoden-Toolbox vor, die ab Herbst 2026 auch frei verfügbar zum Download bereitstehen wird.

At the end of April, the first training of our project “Up2Youth” took place in Palermo, Italy. Twenty participants from France, Italy, Greece, Spain, and Germany had the opportunity to explore the innovative methods of “Urban Culture” and “Active Citizenship” that had previously been developed by the project team.

🧐 A particular highlight was the “No Mafia Walking Tour” organised by Addiopizzo Travel. During the tour, participants learned how civic engagement can be connected to “Urban Culture” when placed within a mafia-related context. They not only gained interesting insights into the realities of the mafia but also explored the civil rights movement that challenges mafia influence and power in Palermo.

Overall, the training was beneficial not only for the participants. The project coordinators received valuable feedback from them that will help to improve the methods further. In addition, the group discussed other important topics and ideas, including gamification in youth work, the role of workshop facilitators, and ways to make youth work more inclusive.

📆 We are very much looking forward to the next steps of the project and would already like to warmly invite you to our Cultural Festival on 30th October, 2026, in Berlin! There, we will present the methods toolbox, which will also be freely available for download from autumn 2026 onwards.

Beyond Indifference: Stories shaping change: 07.05.2026 – 09.05.2026

✊📢 Anfang Mai wurden in Danzig die Weichen für ein neues Projekt gelegt: In „Beyond Indifference: Stories shaping change“ sollen sich junge Menschen anhand von Protestbewegungen in Deutschland, Polen, der Ukraine und Belarus im Exil mit den Herausforderungen für Demokratie, Menschenrechte und soziale Teilhabe beschäftigen. Zentrale Fragen dabei sind: Wie kann zivilgesellschaftliches Engagement Wandel bewirken? Und was können junge Menschen dabei von Aktivist*innen und Zeitzeug*innen aus erster Hand lernen?

Bei dem Vorbereitungstreffen in Danzig sind Vertreter*innen der Kreisau-Initiative (Deutschland), der Fundacja Krzyżowa dla Porozumienia Europejskiego / Stiftung Kreisau (Polen), des Пангея Ультіма / Pangeya Ultima (Ukraine) und dem Belarusian Institute for Public Administration Reform and Transformation (BIPART) (Belarus im Exil, mit Sitz in Litauen) zusammengekommen. Gemeinsam haben sie aktuelle gesellschaftliche und politische Prozesse in ihren Ländern beleuchtet und reflektiert. Dabei wurde deutlich, wie eng individuelle Erfahrungen und größere gesellschaftliche Entwicklungen miteinander verbunden sind.

🗣️ Das Besondere: nicht nur Verantwortliche der Organisationen haben an dem Treffen teilgenommen. Eingeladen waren auch junge Menschen, die ihre Perspektiven, Ideen und Fragen zum Thema geteilt haben. Die Inhalte des Projekts sind damit direkt an den Lebensrealitäten und Anliegen der jungen Menschen orientiert und bieten eine gute Grundlage für die Jugendbegegnung, die im Oktober stattfindet. Darüber hinaus waren die Räumlichkeiten von Solidarność Codziennie ECS als Ort für das Treffen von besonderer Bedeutung. Das Solidarność Codziennie baut auf der als Streikbewegung entstandenen Solidarność auf, welche die erste unabhängige Gewerkschaft im kommunistischen Ostblock war.

„Vier Länder, vier Sprachen, eine Idee - in Gdańsk, der Geburtsstadt der Solidarność-Bewegung, in dieser besonderen Atmosphäre, geprägt von der Geschichte der Protestbewegungen, haben wir uns intensiv ausgetauscht, Erfahrungen geteilt und gemeinsam die kommende Jugendbegegnung vorbereitet. […] Mit dieser Energie und Motivation freue ich mich sehr auf das, was kommt“, sagt Teilnehmerin Luise über das Treffen in Danzig..

✊📢 At the beginning of May, the foundations for a new project were laid in Gdańsk: “Beyond Indifference: Stories shaping change” invites young people to explore the challenges facing democracy, human rights, and social participation through the lens of protest movements in Germany, Poland, Ukraine, and Belarus in exile. Two key questions are particularly important in this context: How can civic engagement create change? And what can young people learn directly from activists and eyewitnesses?

Representatives of the Kreisau-Initiative (Germany), Fundacja Krzyżowa dla Porozumienia Europejskiego / Stiftung Kreisau (Poland), Пангея Ультіма / Pangeya Ultima (Ukraine) and Belarusian Institute for Public Administration Reform and Transformation (BIPART) (Belarus in exile, based in Lithuania) came together in Gdańsk for the preparatory meeting. Together, they explored and reflected on current social and political developments in their countries. It became clear how closely individual experiences are connected to broader societal changes.

🗣️ What made the meeting especially meaningful was that not only representatives of the partner organisations took part. Young people were also invited to share their own perspectives, ideas, and questions on the topic. As a result, the project’s content is directly based on the realities and concerns of young people, providing a strong foundation for the youth encounter taking place in October. In addition, the Solidarność Codziennie ECS premises were of particular importance as a venue for the meeting: Solidarność Codziennie is based on Solidarność, the strike movement that became the first independent trade union in the communist Eastern Bloc.

“Four countries, four languages, one idea – in Gdańsk, the birthplace of the Solidarność movement, surrounded by this unique atmosphere shaped by the history of protest movements, we exchanged ideas intensively, shared experiences, and prepared the upcoming youth encounter together. […] With this energy and motivation, I am truly looking forward to what lies ahead,” says participant Luise about the meeting in Gdańsk.

Building Bridges: BeYou, BeWell: 12.04.2026 – 18.04.2026

🪜 Bei der April-Ausgabe von Building Bridges wurden erneut Brücken gebaut: zwischen Menschen, Kulturen und Perspektiven. 40 junge Menschen aus Deutschland, Polen, Estland, Litauen und Tschechien, die aus unterschiedlichen Gründen nicht immer die gleichen Chancen im Leben haben wie andere Gleichaltrige, haben sich gemeinsam mit den Themen mentale Gesundheit und Resilienz auseinandergesetzt.

Dabei standen folgende Fragen im Mittelpunkt: Wie stärken wir uns selbst? Wie unterstützen wir einander? Und wie schaffen wir Räume, in denen sich jede*r gesehen und wohlfühlen kann?

🙏 In Workshops haben die jungen Menschen gelernt, wie sie ihren Körper, ihre Fähigkeiten und ihren Geist stärken können. Ziel der Übungen war auch, dass sie mehr Vertrauen in sich selbst gewinnen und sehen, wie viel sie bereits leisten und dabei immer wieder über sich hinauswachsen können.

Dazu kam die besondere Magie des Ortes Kreisau: Nicht nur innerhalb der Gruppe sind neue Freundschaften entstanden, sondern auch zwischen den Teilnehmenden verschiedener Jugendbegegnungen der Fundacja Krzyżowa dla Porozumienia Europejskiego / Stiftung Kreisau. Abgerundet wurden die Projekttage mit viel Sport, Gesprächen, Freizeit und Partys. Es war eine ereignisreiche Woche voller gelebter Inklusion, die erneut zeigt: Vielfalt macht stark! BeYou. BeWell. BeActive.

⭐️ Eine litauische Gruppenleiterin betont, wie bedeutungsvoll die Projektwoche für die jungen Teilnehmenden gewesen sei und fügt hinzu: „Es war sowohl für unser Team als auch für unsere Jugendlichen eine unglaublich wertvolle Erfahrung. Die Zeit in Polen hat bei ihnen einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen […].“

🪜 In the April edition of Building Bridges, bridges were once again built: between people, cultures, and perspectives. Forty young people from Germany, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic, who for different reasons do not always have the same opportunities in life as their peers, came together to explore the topics of mental health and resilience.

During the week we focused on the following questions: How can we strengthen ourselves? How can we support one another? And how can we create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and comfortable?

🙏 During workshops, the young participants learned how to strengthen their bodies, skills, and minds. The activities were also designed to help them build confidence in themselves, make them recognise how much they are already capable of achieving and how often they can surpass their own expectations.

The unique magic of the place Krzyżowa made the week even more special: not only did the young people build new friendships within the group, but also between participants of different youth encounters by the Fundacja Krzyżowa dla Porozumienia Europejskiego / Stiftung Kreisau. The project days were rounded off with lots of sports, conversations, free time, and parties. It was an eventful week full of lived inclusion that once again showed: Diversity makes us stronger! BeYou. BeWell. BeActive.

⭐️ One Lithuanian group leader emphasized how meaningful the project week had been for the young participants and added: “It was an incredibly valuable experience for both our team and our young people. The time spent in Poland left a lasting impression on them […].”
