Once upon an Icelandic Highway, my Dad and I embarked on an unforgettable journey. With a camera securely mounted to our jeep, we ventured out into the vast untouched wilderness to capture Iceland's other-worldly landscapes on film. The rhythmic hum of the tires against the road became our soundtrack as the terrain unfolded. Each twist and turn of the highway revealed breathtaking panoramas - from rugged mountains and cascading waterfalls to frozen glaciers and majestic fjords. On our return, I got to work editing a selection of the best footage. Later, I created a track aimed at capturing the lunar-like surface of this incredible place and the repetitive rhythm of the car cruising along the road. In dedicating this release to my father, I pay homage to a man whose passion for the natural world was unparalleled. In loving memory of Brendan Joyce OBE.

Kyiv-based producer Andrey Sirotkin released his new EP "Dusk" with us this week. All proceeds are being donated to Red cross Ukraine.

Sirotkin started out in 2007 producing dubstep and drum & bass under his alias I Wanna Be. By the mid-2000s he took up techno production under the alias Shade Of Drums. More recently Sirtokin releases under his real name — channeling his fascination with modular synthesis into tracks that explore deeper, dubby aesthetics, with haunting pads and hypnotic percussive melodies.

Sirotkin’s latest four-track EP transports the listener into a spooky dark underworld, with its moody, acid-esque basslines, haunting pads, and mesmerising percussive melodies.

"In Ukraine, we have this trend of hard banging music", says Sirotkin. "Some people have difficulty appreciating deeper grooves. So with 'Dusk' it was about making something that could be experienced in more spiritual ways. It's for people who are maybe not into the hard dance experience but still love electronic music.”

As the conflict in Ukraine continues Sirotkin still works tirelessly on releasing music from his studio in Kyiv. Realising that nothing can be taken for granted, the volatility of the situation motivates him to persevere. "Music helps many people in Ukraine cope right now", he says. "But some people here also feel guilty about listening to or making music at the moment. But music works like a cure for me. It helps in the same way that meditation or physical exercise can help."
