At first glance, it looks like just another tree branch—but look closer. A Boa constrictor was found curled up, resting in the branches of a cocoa tree at NBS farm Hacienda Limón in Ecuador.

Boas (Boa constrictor) are essential allies in maintaining a healthy, bio diverse farming environment. As ambush predators, they help regulate rodent populations, keeping the ecosystem in check without the need for chemical pest control.

💡Did you know? Boa constrictors have a unique ability to regulate their body temperature by seeking out specific spots in their environment, like the shaded branches of a cocoa tree, to keep cool.

By planting cocoa alongside native trees, fruit species, and nitrogen-fixing plants, our farms create homes for wildlife. When we farm with the land, rather than against it, life flourishes.
