Juneteenth Celebration at the TWM library.
Join us for our very first Juneteenth celebration!
Juneteenth, observed on June 19, is a U.S. federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when enslaved Black Americans in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued. This year, we in the diaspora in Cologne are celebrating to mark this important occasion.

This year, we will celebrate on Saturday, June 20, to make it easier for everyone to join us.
Come celebrate with us through:
- A reading by a group of Black youth
- Film screening
- Music
- A mini Black American cultural dance workshop
We invite you to bring a dish or snack to share for our community buffet.
