RECAP LOKAL HARMONIE - DUISBURG

At the quaint Lokal Harmonie in Duisburg, a cozy pub atmosphere met an experimental lab.

With “Schwellenzustand,” Verena Hentschel took us into a liminal world between melancholy and fascination made up of layers of sound, resonant melodies and meditative elements. Sprinkled with glitch sounds and bass lines, we were drawn into a space between stability and the search for the new.

Calculation and spontaneity: in “Fieldrecordings, Mini Disks and Konstruktion #4,” we experienced Andrea Ermke and Annette Krebs navigating the gap between calm and noise, both musically and performatively. Using Mini Discs as a foundation, the sounds of sheet metal, wind-up toys, and guitar strings unfolded into an immersive atmosphere.

Finally INNODE shook the venue with “GRAIN.” Live drums and layers of sound were stacked and interwoven with the utmost precision, allowing a certain degree of irregularity. The result was an architecture supple in its forms as well as sharp-edged at the margins. Condensed and streamlined, the rhythms, noises, and sounds transformed into a cohesive whole.

With an open-minded audience and captivating acts, the evening was incredibly fun. And now we’re looking forward to a great closing night in Dortmund at Domicil!

RECAP DAY 3 - HERNE

A packed waiting room – not for the train, but for BLAUES RAUSCHEN at the Alter Wartesaal in Herne.

Robin Moedder and Thomas Machoczek presented an intense exploration of climate change. In the tension-filled performance “Amplitude H20,” the soothing sound of splashing water clashed with the overwhelming power of fire, heat, and menacing thunder.

Farzanés juggled dystopian sci-fi sounds in her “Live Human-Computer Improvisation.” Dressed in a long black coat, she guided AI-trained sounds with grace and determination – like a very powerful antihero.

In “State Change,” Molly Joyce combined her eponymous album with an audio-descriptive and disability-inclusive performance practice. Very present basslines met hypnotic, floating vocals and a captive storytelling.

Between climate change, sensor-based performance, and disability aesthetics, we experienced an evening that leaves a lasting impression.

And now we´re on our way to Essen, where „Hearing abnormalities“ are waiting for us with Tarik Haskić, Stephanie Castonguay and NKISI performing at Rabbit Hole Theater and Neue Musik Zentrale.
