Thomas Krempel – Tattoos – Body Adornment
These two photos show Thomas’s elaborate back tattoo in color and full length (Photo 1) and in black and white (Photo 2).

Thomas’s large-scale, colorful back tattoo—which extends down the entire length of his body—is exceptionally decorative and instantly reminded me of Japanese tattoo art.
The large dragon, serving as the central motif, is positioned beautifully across his back.
°
Thomas’s tattoo introduces the „Body Adornment“ section, a key theme of the upcoming special exhibition *Zier & Zeichen: Was Männer schmückt* („Decoration & Symbols: What Adorns Men“) at the Landesmuseum Württemberg (Landesmuseum Württemberg).
°
My special thanks go to Thomas and all the “models” for their patience and permission to photograph them, as well as to the organizers, curators, and the many others involved in this special exhibition who made it possible.

Adrian

It was in Florence almost exactly a year ago. I urgently needed to finish some work on my laptop and was feeling a bit stressed.
- It was hot, a trade fair was taking place, and I was sitting in a small room surrounded by very loud people—plus, I’d forgotten my headphones, which I would have used to block out the noise.
°
Thank goodness Adrian was sitting opposite me; his calm and cheerful demeanor helped put me at ease.
We couldn’t talk much at first because it was so noisy around us and I had to get my work done.
°
However, while I worked, we occasionally exchanged questions and answers. That’s how I learned that Adrian is a photographer and had traveled from Barbados.
°
When I heard that—and mentioned that I was currently practicing portrait photography— we decided on the spur of the moment to take a photo of him sitting across from me.
°
I’m posting a black-and-white photo first to draw more attention to his facial features and presence; I’ll share a color photo of Adrian later on.
°
Thank you very much, Adrian , for your support. Your presence alone was a huge help to me in that situation.
I hope you’re doing well, and I also want to sincerely thank you for allowing me to photograph you and publish the images.
