From 21 to 23 October 2025, the University of Mannheim will host the International Conference for Early-Career Researchers: Transnational Perspectives on Europe’s Extreme Right. The event explores how far-right ideologies and networks have circulated across Europe since the 1970s, shaping politics, culture, and society beyond national borders.

Highlights include a keynote by Massimiliano Livi (University of Trier) on the transformation of neo-conservative and far-right political culture, and Sofia Miola (University of Pavia) presenting her research on Adriano Romualdi’s search for a European far-right identity. The conference aims to deepen historical understanding while exploring counterstrategies to radicalization.

La morte di Pippo Baudo ad agosto 2025 ha segnato simbolicamente la fine di un’epoca in cui la TV italiana, dalla Rai agli anni del duopolio, costruiva immaginari collettivi, identità condivise e modelli sociali.
Con l’avvento di piattaforme on-demand e social media, gli spettatori diventano utenti frammentati in micro-pubblici e “tribù digitali”, con gusti e consumi mediatici sempre più personalizzati e meno uniformi.
La continuità di alcune figure storiche (Baudo, Tortora, Arbore) mostra come la TV sia sempre stata un ponte tra innovazione e tradizione; tuttavia, il ruolo unificante della televisione lineare è ormai superato, sostituito da una comunicazione frammentata governata dagli algoritmi.

The death of Pippo Baudo in August 2025 symbolically marks the end of an era in which Italian TV, from Rai to the years of the duopoly, shaped collective imaginaries, shared identities, and social models.
With the rise of on-demand platforms and social media, viewers have become fragmented users within micro-audiences and “digital tribes,” with increasingly personalized and diverse media consumption.
The continuity of some historic figures (Baudo, Tortora, Arbore) shows how TV has always served as a bridge between innovation and tradition; however, the unifying role of linear television is now surpassed, replaced by fragmented communication governed by algorithms.
