Thank you for a pleasant meeting Mr. Ambassador. We look forward to take part in creating more events which promote Danish-Japanese collaboration🇩🇰🇯🇵

Btw. O&M Design (by Takashi & Erik) is still designing furniture after 50 years. A beautiful example of DK-JP partnership 😊

🇯🇵🤝🇩🇰 On March 12, Ambassador Mori received a courtesy call from Mr. Tomonori Makita (henrik innovation) and Ms. Aya Okamura (ayanomimi). They exchanged views on the interactions between Japan and Denmark through Danish architecture.

In recent years, a good number of Japanese students/scholars/experts/designers have come to Denmark to study architecture and urban planning—learning not only about aesthetics, but also the ideas and social context behind the buildings. Mr. Makita and Ms. Okamura are co-authors of “Denmark’s Social Architecture,” which explores Danish architecture and its context for a Japanese audience. Denmark’s globally recognized sustainability philosophy also resonates with Japan’s concept of "mottainai" —the practice of avoiding waste and respecting resources.

It was a delightful surprise to learn that Ms. Okamura’s father is a furniture designer in Denmark, and that the tables in the embassy office were designed by him. 😮

【Article in Japanese】An interview about being a Japanese designer in Denmark. O&M Design was founded in a basement on Amaliegade, in the heart of Copenhagen in 1973. For 50 years Takashi Okamura and Erik Marquardsen have delivered designs to national and international furniture brands. The "Japandi" approach is a natural part of their way of thinking. They are still working on designing great furniture, such as the Olive barstool, which is launched by Ayanomimi.

【Article in Japanese】I was interviewed by Spectrum Tokyo about my role as a facilitator bridging two cultures in order to create business. In this article I talk about:
- My role as a facilitator and strategic communicator
- The potential of Danish-Japanese collaboration with special focus on tech and design
- The daily struggle of Danish/Japanese company representatives who needs to learn about Japan/Denmark the hard way
- How I share my knowledge through business sessions about cultural differences and similarities
- How we can and should create new and exciting ways of managing cultural gaps

The interviewer was also very curious about the share office "5te STED" that I use here in Copenhagen. We talk about the importance of having a community where you can openly share your ideas, reach out for help, and were you can discuss possibilities.
