What is a ‘high-risk country’? How do you compare impacts on asylum seekers rights in Denmark with workers right to form and join trade unions in the U.S.? Country ranking is often biased - and by nature like comparing apples with pears. We call it the ‘fruit-fallacy’.
The good news is, ranking of countries is not necessary for your UNGPs aligned Responsible Business Conduct.

Feedback on OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, 2023 | GLOBAL CSR 16/03/2023

The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises are up for revision for the first time since 2011. As a central reference point for , such updates can be crucial to corporations operating in OECD countries. GLOBAL CSR warmly welcomes the proposed updates. The guidelines now explicitly mention businesses have responsibility in the full value chain, rather than the supply chain only, and the reference is clear throughout. There is however still room for improvement: For instance, the proposed update includes an encouragement for businesses to conduct a ‘materiality’ assessment – in our view an out-dated, expense heavy ‘screening’ of material issues for the company, that isn’t cost-efficient and most importantly is not aligned with the OECD blueprint: the .
