The Tsáchilas are thought to have originated from a mix of various groups who lived west of the Andes during the colonial period, including those known as Yumbos and a group called Colorados from the Angamarca region
They reside primarily in the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, a region on the western slopes of the Andes
The Colorados, now officially known as the Tsáchila people, are an indigenous group from Ecuador, specifically the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas. They are known for their unique cultural traditions, including the custom of dyeing their hair with the achiote plant, which is why they were originally called "Colorados" (Red Ones)
