Happy Independence Day, Equatorial Guinea!
Today we celebrate the strength of a nation, The Heart of Africa, that has turned its challenges into profound resilience and its diverse heritage into a cohesive unity. As an inspiring proverb reminds us, "If you dream of moving mountains tomorrow, you must start today by lifting small stones." This timeless wisdom reminds us that true growth and progress are built one deliberate step at a time—by tackling the tasks immediately before us, respecting the foundation laid by hard work, and fostering community, collaboration, and shared purpose.
Like Equatorial Guinea’s remarkable journey through every test, the power to create, to rise, and to shape the future is always within reach, provided we commit to the dedicated effort of the present day.

Happy Independence Day, Uganda!
Today we celebrate the strength of a nation, The Pearl of Africa, that has turned its challenges into profound resilience and its diverse heritage into a cohesive unity. As a proverb from the people of Uganda wisely says, "A person who knows nothing is not aware of their ignorance." This timeless wisdom reminds us that true growth and progress require humility—the readiness to learn, to challenge our assumptions, and to actively seek the knowledge and diverse perspectives needed to foster community, collaboration, and shared purpose.
Like Uganda’s remarkable journey through every test, the power to create, to rise, and to shape the future is always within reach, provided we embrace a spirit of continuous learning and
enlightenment.

Our Story
Bibliotheca Alexandrina Information for Africa (BAIFA) is an information service that works on promoting research and enhancing the role of information services for African countries in order to establish an innovative approach to professional development and launch a platform for sharing experiences among peers and experts.
Through BAIFA, the BA is capitalizing on a former effort started by the Royal Tropical Institute of the Netherlands (KIT) together with Elsevier based on two memoranda of understanding signed by both parties. These two memoranda serve the best interest of researchers and research institutions in African least-developed and low-income countries.
BAIFA works on keeping the thriving research community alive in low- and middle-income countries in Africa and improving the quality and quantity of African scientific research. Consequently, this reduces the knowledge gap between high-income countries and low- and middle-income countries by providing access to the best of science.
