On September 3, 2021, at the Patriarchal and Synodal Residence in the Danilov Monastery in Moscow, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia met with the special representative of the Coptic Patriarchate, Dr. Anton Milad, who is one of the founders and leaders of Holy Egypt International.

The meeting took place within the framework of the visit of a pilgrimage delegation of abbots and inhabitants of the monasteries of the Coptic Church to the monks of Russia.

Dr. Anton Milad was awarded the Order of Glory and Honor, II Degree, for his contribution to the development of dialogue between the Coptic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church and in connection with his 70th birthday.

🚣‍♂️ Maadi - an ancient capital with a Christian history

There is a beautiful area in Cairo called Maadi. Now it is built up with houses from which an incredible view of the Nile opens, but it is not known for this. Most likely you have not even heard of it, so we will tell you some facts about Maadi:

ℹThe Maadi region is located on the territory of the ancient capital of Egypt - Memphis (3rd millennium BC - 1st millennium AD).
According to one of the versions, it was here that a basket with the baby Moses was found.
ℹ It is here that one of the stops of the Holy Family in Egypt is located. Here they crossed the river and continued their journey up the Nile.
ℹ The Church of the Virgin Mary in Maadi is called “Al-Adaweya”, which means “Church at the crossing” (the name of the area and the church goes back to the Arabic “to cross”.
ℹ In the Church of the Virgin Mary in Maadi there is a staircase along which the Holy Family descended to the water for the crossing.
ℹ On March 12, 1976, an ordinary printed Bible was washed ashore near the church, which was opened on one of the pages of Isaiah, (19:25) the declaring: "Blessed be Egypt my people." The Bible can be seen in the chapel of the church.
